A First Christmas to Remember

The week before Christmas, we had the joy of celebrating the Lydia Family’s very first Christmas. A truck arrived filled with gifts generously donated by the employees of USI, and as we carried them inside, they quickly became a small mountain of presents—each one a tangible sign of welcome and care.
The gifts included clothing, household essentials, and gift cards, along with a few clear favorites: soccer cleats, Spider-Man toys, cosmetics, and cozy blankets. The excitement in the room was unmistakable.
We also shared a large family meal together. I brought my whole family, including my parents, which meant a great deal to the Lydia Family. Family is central to their culture, and gathering across generations helped create a deep sense of connection and belonging around the table.
Later, the father shared a thank-you note that captured the heart of the day: “You put smiles on my face and made my family so happy.” This celebration was a beautiful example of what can happen when the local community comes together—USI employees, families, and Relife—working side by side to create moments of joy, dignity, and hope.
